What fucking unbridled arrogance to insert himself like this. Obviously the patients, their familys, the people that know them best, and the whole consensus of medical professionals are wrong and only he, some corrupt dip lawyer, is right. When can we start seeing the overreach of lawyers overruling medical care as the fraud that it is.

I am quite certain the ACLU is prepared to sue the instant it is possible. (As we know that is entirely necessary but much damage will be done before then.)

Good reason to support those efforts.

This is a human rights violation. My heart breaks for the providers, the parents, and most of all the kids.

Who the fuck does he think he is?

Aleksandra Vaca's avatar

Mine breaks too...unfortunately Paxton is known to not have one whatsoever.

Definitely “Handmaiden’s Tale” sort of stuff.

My heart is breaking for these kids and their parents. I wish I could move them all out of Texas. I don’t know what they will do and I feel powerless to help them.

Your reply to my compassionate comment is to promote a hate organization? Shame.

This will cost human lives unnecessarily!

Instead, I propose conversion therapy for all of the white khristian nationalists! 🖕💩

My centrist uncle is on board with this too. Thinks trans people are abominations.

Hard no.

I’m a metal health professional in Texas. I work with kids. I would never comply with this type of law and neither would any of the colleagues I can think of. It’s a direct contradiction to both our professional ethics and the medical research.

It is child abuse to tell a boy he is or can become a girl and encourage him into a lifetime of injurious cosmetic interventions in pursuit of that impossible idea. Child abuse should be outlawed.

Aleksandra Vaca's avatar

Should conversion therapy be outlawed then, given that it a) doesn't work and b) increases suicidality risk?

Mark Schirmer's avatar

So, it is “conversion therapy” to tell a boy he is not a girl, but it’s “affirming” to castrate him, cut off his penis, cut a hole in his torso and put him on mass doses of hormones. Got it.

Aleksandra Vaca's avatar

Are you a doctor? No. You don’t get to invent medical standards here. Your “common sense” costs lives. You should think long and hard about how your rhetoric affects other people.

Mark Schirmer's avatar

I am a lawyer. Much of my life has been spent litigating health care issues. Frankly, it is you who endanger other’s health and well being. Transgender ideology has led to profligate use of cross sex hormones, with attendant dangers to the endocrine system. Celebrating chemical and physical castration? Mutiliating vulvas? As an adult, go for it. But the evidence for “affirming” medicalization in youths is at best very weak. And you know it.

Aleksandra Vaca's avatar

You are a lawyer. I almost took my life because Texas Senate Bill 14 kept me from getting even so much as a therapist when I needed it the most.

So I dare you to tell me to my face that keeping me from that care saved me. Or that it was somehow worth it to make me carry around the memory of staring down my home’s balcony and coming so close to ending it all for the rest of my life of my life.

Claiming you are any sort of an authority figure here is as laughable as it is disingenuous. You’ve had your life free of government intervention. Let me have mine.

Mark Schirmer's avatar

I hope you got the help you needed for your suicidal thoughts. So you were a minor when the law was upheld in 2024?

In this case "Telling the truth" (which it isn't) kills people. So you would rather that trans people die then live. Just say what you believe with your full chest, you coward.

Simon's avatar

Can you explain how the act informing a person that it is impossible to change sex "kills people?" Does this information also kill other people, or only people who call themselves "trans?" This is an extraordinary claim, and it has no evidence whatsoever to support it, so I'm curious to hear your reasoning.

Just another example of Republican “Think of the children” shining through. Who the hell dooes this guy think he is? Has anyone looked into Paxtons past? I have no idea how Texas still has this slim bag as an AG let alone now he’s running for Senate? Could you imagine his lunacy in the Senate!?! This is when America needs to stand up and shine a light on Paxton and finally say “No”. All Americans deserve better than this man.
